- Immediately I wanted to see it's value as an astrophotography lens. Not too often do people use this lens for this purpose but the prospect of using Canon's top lens (according to the MTF charts) and shooting at f/2.8 instead of 5.6 or 8 or 10 made this a worthwhile endeavor.
