- I have done astroimaging with two Nikon DSLRs, three CCD cameras (two color, one mono) and four CMOS cameras (one mono, three OSC). My recommendation is that you skip the DSLRs and CCD cameras altogether and go directly to a cooled OSC astronomy camera with a large CMOS sensor as recommended above. The workflow is MUCH easier.

- The system throughput is 85% versus .25*.5 = 12.5%, for a CCD throughout advantage of .85/.125 = 6.8. But the noise floor of the CMOS is 12 times lower, so the CMOS Bayer sensor wins if temperatures are cold enough; the CCD wins if temperatures are high enough when the CMOS DSLR has higher dark current. There is not a clear difference.
