- Bias are a hangover from the CCD days, and no one should be using them any more. Old info like that tends to stick around in astrophotography for some reason though. You should be using flat darks to calibrate your flats, and matched darks for your lights. Even darks are arguably unnecessary with some of the newer BSI astro cameras.

- That is why bias is (or should be) only subtracted from the flats. That way, subtracting the darks from the lights corrects for read noise and hot/cold/thermal noise. Then, dividing the dark corrected lights by the corrected flats accounts for noise (dust bunnies, hairs, vignetting) in the optical train. At least I think that's how it works

- The dark corners are normally fixed by shooting flats. The third picture shows a .CR2 raw file converted to JPEG, but with "Lens Profile Correction" applied. Note the corners are much brighter. This fix tells me flats are not necessary, unless my sensor or lens are quite dirty. The fourth picture shows a 200% crop of a JPEG right out of the camera.
