- The 5D was a great camera for astro, but it doesn't have live view. A full frame sensor is going to be much more demanding of the optics though, and will show more aberrations in the corners if they are there because of the larger field. I don't know of anyone who has done a head to head test between the 5D and 550D as far as noise.
