- Edited March 18, 2011 by gary1968. March 18, 2011. I got a CG-5 s/h (equiv to EQ5) for just over £100 and fitted new motors to it for £93. Then a WO Megrez72 (superb little scope) s/h for £300 (inc a few extras) and a polar scope (£25 s/h). Little more than £500 for a good starter imaging rig.

Skywatcher 200pds eq5 for astrophotography?
- When I first started in astrophotography I used a 200p on an eq5 and while it was sort of do-able, it was a struggle. If I had the ability to start again I would have definitely gone for a 130pds (not the standard 130p) on a HEQ5. It would have saved me alot of money. There is some very good advice given to you in this thread.

- Skywatcher 130PDS with suitable coma corrector. Coma is another type of aberration that is inherent in parabolic mirror scopes. It affects outer parts of the image, but unlike field curvature, it can't be reduced by careful focusing. You need another type of optical corrector - called coma corrector to eliminate it.

- First Light - Skywatcher 200P. Sep 28, 2019. 3. I bought this used locally, mainly for the EQ5 mount. I'd been umming and ahhing about buying a smaller telescope like the 130PDS and trying to run it guided on the Star Adventurer. In the end I went for this to get the mount and hope that the scope could do some AP as well as visual use.
