Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens Review
- https://www.the-digital-picture.com/reviews/canon-ef-s-10-22mm-f-3.5-4.5-usm-lens-review.aspx
- The 10-22's focus speed is fast and the focus sound is very quiet . We can thank Ring USM (and a short infinity focus distance) for these features. Minimum focus distance is about 9.5" (241mm) for the 10-22. With a maximum aperture that ranges from f/3.5 to f/4.5, the 10-22 is a medium-fast lens. The wide focal lengths make handholding easier.

- This 10-18 is even slower and as such would have a lower score then the 758 given above. Ahh I didn't realize it was such a slow lens. at f/4 it would be closer to 550, even worse than the kit lens I believe. I would NOT recommend you get that lens for night photography, it is simply too slow without a tracking mount.

- For your Canon T3 camera with a Canon 10-18 mm lens, the hyperfocal distance is about 4 m (at 18 mm and at f/4.5). This means that if you focus on a flashlight slightly farther than 4 m, anything farther than that flashlight will still be in focus, even the stars.
