Conclusions Single-exposure speckle photography can be used to produce a map of flow velocity distributions, in which velocity is coded as a variation in the variance (contrast) of the speckle pattern. Spatial filtering techniques can be used to enhance these photographs, by converting the variance variations to intensity variations.
