- the maximum on the D90 is 3 shots up to +/- 2 stops, so at least you have 4 stops of difference in total. If you need more shots or more spread you need to step in manually...or you buy a D300s, there you have up to 9 autbkt shots I got some decent results with 3 shots and difference of +/- 2 but yes some situations require more than that.
