- there really is absolutely no need to use hypoclear with negs. Fibre paper - absolutely yes, negatives, not at all. fresh fixer followed by the Ilford wash routine is perfectly fine for long-lived negs. I mix my own hypo clear from a teaspoon of sodium sulphite disolved in 600 or so mls of warm water and use this when I'm printing.
