- Thanks for the replies, my D810 with no AA filter is very good for infrared using a R72 filter with most of my lenses. As we all know the D850 has a new type of sensor, so far I have not seen any IR photos from it. Cheers, Mike. D810, 45mm ..very nice! ..the below pictures are NOT mine.. they are examples from a IR converted D200 camera..

- The sensor has at least 15 stops of IR filtering, so are you planing on converting it or using a filter. A conversion is probably a good idea and will work fine. The high resolution of the D850 will be great. But maybe a better idea is converting a D800E since they are relatively inexpensive. Using screw on filters, there are different factors.

Anyone else trying infrared photography with D810?
- So I wanted to ask you whether anyone else is trying this kind of photography with the D810. I used to be very keen on this, but I hadn't practiced for a long time (I even sold the Hoya IR72 filter that now I am considering to buy again). Also, I'd like to know your opinion about any available good quality ND filters for Cokin P system.

- The Nikon D850 is the successor to the D810, but it’s quite an upgrade! The sensor is backlit, and from my experience that plus the Expeed 5 processor in the D850 provide amazing results for high ISO images at night. At 20 seconds, f/2.8, 14mm, and ISO 25,600 the results are great and using some noise reduction goes a long ways.

- Thankfully, the build quality of the D850 is excellent. It’s not quite there with the Nikon D5, but it isn’t too far off. Weather-sealing should be improved from its predecessor (the D810) because the built-in flash unit has been removed - this is typically an area where moisture can enter the camera.

Nikon D850 or D500 for Bird Photography

- Working with the D850 is like having better peripheral vision available. This flexibility of a wider angle of view makes the D850 more versatile. Even closer and only a portrait option is left with the DX body. An FX camera would have probably still allowed a portrait orientated frame of the whole bird
