Is the Nikon D7000 a good wildlife camera? - Quora

- It Is a very good camera and when I owned one never let me down. For wildlife it’s more about the lens than the body, a DX crop body helps. Typically wildlife doesn’t want you 3” from their nose, making you work from a distance. The D7000 with a 70–300mm ED IF VR lens is a good budget’ish’ pairing.

- The Nikon D7000 is a fine camera and when the 70-300 mm lens is added to it, you will be able to shoot wildlife. However, your current lens will not fit the Nikon. You will have to buy a lens that will. Here is how the sensors of the A200 and D7000 compare. http://www.dxomark.com/...and2)/Sony

Telephoto for wildlife, Nikon D7000 - Amateur Photographer

- The first is with a AF VR Zoom-Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED at 400 mm (600mm 135 equivalent). For the second, you'd probably need a macro lens but that was taken with a Fuji XF1. I think the 80-400 is excellent as a wildlife (lion type) lens. There is a new version out now that is an AF-S. Last edited: Dec 15, 2013.
Nikon D700 or D3S for Wildlife (Choosing A' or B')
- Once Nikon puts the D7000 type sensor technology onto a D300S type body that uses CF instead of the slow SD memory cards, it'll be very good for wildlife photography. Having the video option is another major plus for wildlife. In other words, if you can wait a bit, look for the successor to the D300S, hopefully some time in 2011.
