- Segment Synopsis: Jim Escalante (JE) talks about his parents. His mother was of European descent and grew up in rural north Texas. His father was from Brownsville, Texas, on the border, and JE's paternal grandparents were from Mexico. During WWII, JE's father was a bombardier in the Army Air Corps, and he met and married JE's mother.
