- The 645, would be a big daddy to a 35 SLR. The dilemma is spending the money on another camera system. The 645 would be a better traveling camera. But, also needing a newer lens for my 4x5 Cambo. The ones I have now came from a Speed Graphic and a Polaroid 110. Also, needing a wide angle lens and one more back for my RB.

- Gave up on the plastic Mamiya 645s in the end and returned to my metal 645 1000S, J and M bodies. I'm afraid your only recourse is to rerurn the camera for a refund if possible. Spare parts are no longer available AFAIK, and repair costs would likely exceed the worth of the camera. The not firing issue is almost certainly due to a loose solenoid.

- The 1000s has proved to be a very reiable camera over the years. Most of the problems that I'm aware of deal with metering prisms rather than the M645 1000s body. I plan on using the 1000s with just a couple of lenses; it will be used mostly with the 35mm lens. The Hasselbald SWC and 40mm lenses are just too expensive.
