- Hi, I currently have the Nikon 17-55 2.8 lens and am thinking of getting the Nikon 24-70 2.8 and selling the 17-55. Is this mad, bad or sad? I shoot landscapes, weddings, portraits and events and have a range of other lenses that I will list below.

- I recently bought the Nikon 17-55 f/2.8 lens for my D90. I had read lots about it being a great lens for weddings and photojournalism. My daughter's getting married this summer so it will come in handy. It's a heavy lens and great quality but you need to use a lens hood because it's prone to flare.

- Guest A full frame camera body. (The D700 or D3) Two fast zooms, the 17-55 f/2.8 if you're using a crop sensor body, or the 24-70 f/2.8 for a full frame, and the 70-200 f/2.8 Another flash. If you don't have a 50mm I'd get one. Good portrait lens on a crop sensor. For a full frame, you'd want something a little longer.

Regarding wide-angle zooms, the first that comes to mind is the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lens, which is optimal for working in cramped locations and crowded dance floors. Its physical design, optical qualities, and wide-angle versatility make it almost a must-have for wedding work.

- NIKON D750 + 20mm f/1.8 @ ISO 720, 1/40, f/5.6. There might be other cases where using a wide-angle lens is going to be required to be able to fully reveal the scene / location in which the newlyweds, or perhaps a group of people are located: NIKON D750 + 20mm f/1.8 @ ISO 200, 1/60, f/5.6. Tamron 17-50 vs. Nikon 17-55 for Weddings? - photo
- https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/tamron-17-50-vs-nikon-17-55-for-weddings.333958/
- I wanted to query those of you who may have had experience with this scenario. I bought the Tamron 17-50 for wedding work, opting not to purchase the Nikon 17-55. I did so primarily to save weight, and the price difference enabled me to get a backup sb-800. I'm happy with the lens, but lately I've been craving a sharper lens to suit my tastes.

Ridiculous to use a DX body for Wedding Photography?: …

- If you want something a bit more pro then there's the 17-55 f2.8 or the newer 16-80. For weddings the D7200 is probably much better than the D500 as it gives slightly cleaning images and you don't really need its AF capability for weddings. DX is perfectly fine for weddings.
