- The D300 shows a lot of sensor noise at ISO 1600 and higher. This goes back to no automatic modes. Use manual mode so you can set the ISO level. However, a low ISO means the sensor is less sensitive to light so the shutter has to be left open longer leading to star tracks without an equatorial mount.
