- Re: Sports shots with the Nikon D80 18-200 lens. here are some tips that I follow myself to get good shots (and i use a D40 + 18-55 kit + 55-200 non-VR) outdoors: use your lens hood + shoot at somewhere near 1/1000s shutter speed. only go under that if it's starting to get near dusk and it's getting darker outside.
