- I typically shoot with the 70-200 f/2.8 which is a perfect match for swim meets. But, you'll also want to get some candids of the kids as well, so a shorter focal length will still come in handy. The 50 f/1.8 will be great for that. The main challenge though will be the lighting, both amount and quality.

- When I started getting back into photography just over a year ago, my main interest was my daughters swim meets. I bought a 7D and a 70-200 2.8. I also have a 100-400 but all meets were indoor so that was pretty much useless. I found that TV, 1/640, single center point focus, AI Servo and 8 fps worked best and aim for the swimmers eyes.
