- My usual approach would be to be a medium distance away, say 25-40 metres, zoom in fairly tight (closer shots are far more interesting for rowing, you get some great facial expressions), and stop down as far as I can while still getting 250+ shutter speed. I also usually shoot with the exposure set to -1/3.
