- For archival masters, resolution standards are 4000-8000 pixels along the long edge (e.g., an 8x10 photo should be digitized at a resolution of 400-800 ppi. 400 ppi x 10 in = 4000 pixels). For access copies, a resolution of 150 ppi generally makes sense for prints. For film, 150-200 ppi or 600 pixels along the long edge.
